Basic Electrical Characteristics:
Design Volts
- This is the voltage at which the lamp is designed for
rated amperes, candlepower, and laboratory-life characteristics.
Design Watts or Amps
- The
power consumption (watts) or current rating (amps) at the design
voltage.
Mean Spherical
Candlepower (MSCP)
- This value is
the initial mean spherical candlepower at the design voltage.
Mean spherical candlepower is the generally accepted method of
rating the total light output of miniature lamps. To convert
this rating to lumens, multiply it by 12.57. Lumens = MSCP x
12.57.
Rated Average
Life
- Rated average life
is that obtained in closely controlled laboratory testing or lamps
at their design voltage. It is not necessarily the same as
service life: shocks, vibration, voltage fluctuations,
temperature and other environmental influences may result in a
shorter service life.
Special Bulb Applications:
Tuff-Coated
- This is a
silicone-rubber coating which protects people and surroundings from
flying glass fragments in the event of glass breakage.
Color-Coated - For
indication or decorative applications. Contact for availability.
Lamp Descriptions
Incandescent
Lamps -
Changes electrical energy into radiant energy. The light
generated results from the filament being resistance heated to a
temperature high enough to produce visible light. The most
common household lamp type.
Fluorescent
Lamps
-
are high energy saving, long life, and cool application. They
come in a large variety of types: compact, circular, tubular,
u-bent, and full spectrum. We carry the full line of Star Lux
brand fluorescents which can replace most household incandescent for
cooler application and longer life.
Reflector
Lamps -
are designed to project light in a controlled direction. This
is accomplished by both the shape and reflective mirror coating of
the lamp. Can be tuff-coated for shatterproof applications.
L.E.D.
- Are available in voltage from 6.0V through 12.0 V. They
provide direct replacement for their incandescent counter parts.
L.E.D.'s come in a variety of sizes and shapes to fit almost any
requirements for low cost indicating. The standard colors are red,
green, yellow, and amber. They last an average of 10,000 hours
(10 years) and require no maintenance during their life.
Halogen
Lamps:
Are lamps that provide a small efficient white light source.
Unlike standard incandescent lamps, halogen lamps use a halogen gas,
which allows the bulb to burn more intensely without sacrificing
life. Compared to standard incandescent lamps, halogen lamps
provide energy savings, longer life, crisp white light, and a
compact light source.
H.I.D Lamps: Are
available in 2 basic varieties, high pressure sodium and metal
halide. Both varieties have a unique characteristics relating
to light output, color rendering, and life. Both varieties are
extremely energy efficient. They are stock in clear finish
only.
Ballast
- All ballast are high frequency electronic type, listed and
approved by underwriters laboratory. They meet FCC
requirements governing electromagnetic and radio frequency
interface. High power factor is 90% or higher.
Light Covers
& Accessories - Offering the most comprehensive selection: for new and
retrofit lighting installations, louvers, baffles, egg crate and
lenses. We also have wrap arounds, globes, wet location
enclosures and plastic aluminum.
Light
Fixtures:
Offering a large line of incandescent, fluorescent, vapor proof, and
dusk til dawn mercury vapor security fixtures. Used in homes,
offices, warehouses, boat docks, and various other locations.
Exit Signs:
Incandescent,
universal LED, and combination exit and emergency sign.
